Work Process

Uta Fehlhaber-SmithThe German born and reared artist's approach to art derives from her deep concern with cultural, social, philosophical, and political issues. Frequently incorporating ideas drawn from music, literature, and dance the artist utilizes diverse forms and media in expressing ideas derived from her various passions and intellectual pursuits.

Fehlhaber-Smith describes her work process as follows. "As soon as a theme incubates, I develop antennas, picking up information and sensations relevant to this idea or subject. Eventually my theme's visualization comes into precise focus on it's own, uninvited but welcome. Therefore I need to be flexible, entertaining diverse media, techniques and styles, which consequently makes me unpredictable as an artist. This liberty is crucial to me."
